Mr. Abdul-Ganiu Alhassan (HOD)

Biography

Abdul – Ganiu Alhassan is the Head of Science Department at the Gambaga College of Education. He holds Bachelor of Science (Applied Biology) and MPhil (Community Health and Development) from University for Development Studies (UDS), Ghana. He is currently pursuing a Master of Education (Science Education) in the University of Education, Winneba. He has taught Integrated Science, Biology, and Anatomy and physiology to students at the Junior and Senior High, and College of Nursing and Midwifery respectively. He currently teaches Science in Gambaga College of Education and University of Cape Coast College of Distant Education. His research and publication interests include, but not limited to; Best practices in health and the teaching and learning of Science, with particular attention to students’ attitudes towards Science.

 

Mr. Robert Akayim Awasina (Faculty Member)

BIOGRAPHY

Robert Akayim Awasina had his Mphil in Innovation Communication (2011 – 2015) and his first degree (2002 – 2006) from the University for Development studies. He had his Teacher Cert ‘A’ from Bagabaga College Education., Tamale. He has a cumulative teaching experience of over 15 years. His research interest in on the environment and climate change.

 

 

 

 

 

Ms. Raabi Darkom (Faculty Member)

 

BIOGRAPHY

Raabi Darkom is a tutor in the department of Science with a focus in Biology. She holds MPhil. (Clinical microbiology) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, B.Sc (Applied Biology) from the University for Development Studies (UDS), and a Sandwich diploma in education from the University of Education, Winneba. Raabi is currently a PhD candidate at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. Her career objective is to seek an opportunity to utilize her skills and abilities in an institution while being innovative and flexible as well as learn to improve her abilities and capabilities. She has interest to research into issues and come out with findings which are beneficial to society.

 

 

 

Mr. Kasenti Sulley Abubkari (Faculty Member)

Biography

Kasenyi Sulley Abubakari is the Head of Sports and project work coordinator in Gambaga College of Education. He had his basic education at Damango in the West Gionja District before proceeding Navrongo Senior High School for his Secondary Education. He had his Teacher Cert ‘A’ from Bagabaga College of Education, Tamale. He also holds both Bachelor of Education (HPERS) and Master of Education (HPERS) from University of Education Winneba. He was the Head of PE and Sports in Gambaga Girls Senior High School and now a PE tutor at Gambaga College of Education.

 

 

 

 

 

Mr. Issahaku Shahadu (Faculty Member)

BIOGRAPHY

Mr. Issahaku Shahadu attended attended Nalerigu SHS (2005-2008) and had his first degree in BSc. Applied Chemistry from the University for Development studies (2009-2013). He did his National Service at Gowrie SHS in the Upper East Region where he taught physics and integrated science and was selected to represent the school as a physics teacher in the 2013/2014 national science and Maths quiz. In 2015, he pursued a course on Occupational Basic Safety and Health training at OSHA cademy Takoradi. He proceeded to University of Education Winneba where he was trained as a professional teacher in 2015/2016 academic year. His research interest is “the treatment of rock phosphate with poultry droppings to enhance its phosphorus availability”. Mr. Shahadu had a contract with WHO (2016/2017) to work as a task shifting officer for TB control programme in Baptist Medical Centre (BMC) Nalerigu. He is currently an Assistant Science Tutor in Gambaga College of Education and pursuing his Master Degree in Science Education (Chemistry Option) in the University of Education Winneba
