Department of Education

The department has the following faculty members;

MR. JOSEPH KWABENA ABOYINGA 

JOSEPH KWABENA ABOYINGA is the Acting vice Principle and in the Education Department of Gambaga College of Education. He has a Master’s Degree (Educational Administration and Management)  and Bachelor of Education (Special Education and Mathematics) from University of education, Winneba, Teachers Certificate ‘A’ from Saint John BOSCOs College, Navrongo. He has been teaching for the past 25years.

MR. SALIFU ZIBREAL SANDAWEY 

SALIFU ZIBREAL SANDAWEY is the head of department and Teaching Practice coordinator at Gambaga College of Education. He has his Basic and Secondary Education in Nalerigu before proceeding to Tamale College of Education where he obtained his Teacher Cert ‘A’.  He had his Diploma in Basic Education (DBE), Bachelor of Education (BEd) and Master of Education (MEd) in Educational and Administration from the University of Education, Winneba. He is currently teaching Education in Gambaga College.

MR. MESHANU, KASIMU HAMISU (DEAN OF STUDENTS AFFAIRS)

BIOGRAPHY

Meshanu Kasimu Hamisu is a tutor in the Department of Education and the current Dean of Student’s Affairs in the college. He holds a master’s degree in Education (M.Ed, Educ. Adm & Mag’t, University of Education, Winneba), Bachelor of Education (University of Cape Coast), Diploma in Education (University of Cape Coast), Cert ‘A’-3-Year (Bagabaga Training College). He has a cumulative teaching experience of 16 years at the High school and college levels. His research interests are grounded in the theories of Educational Administration and Management. His accomplished research focused on In-service Training: Perceptions of Basic School Teachers and Administrators of East Mamprusi District in Northern Ghana (unpublished). His current research has a focus on the Participation of Colleges of Education Staff on Intitutional Strengthening.

MR. ADDULAI MOHAMMED KAMILU (G&C COORDINATOR)

Biography:

Abudulai Mohammed – Kamilu is a tutor of Education and the coordinator of the Guidance and Counselling unit at the Gambaga College of Education. As the coordinator of the unit, he offers confidential advice and career guidance to students and their families across the school. He holds Bachelor of Education in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Education, Winneba. He also holds Diploma in Adult Education from the University of Ghana, Legon, and Teacher Cert ‘A’ from Gbewaah Training College, Pusiga. Mr Kamilu has a very rich experience from his over 20 years in the teaching field.  Before joining the college, he headed several basic schools in the district, and was subsequently elevated to the position of a Circuit Supervisor for Gambaga circuit under Ghana Education Service, East Mamprusi District. His research interest include, but not limited to, Guidance function in education, Conflicts and Conflict Management,  and domestic violence and how guidance can be used to support victims.

Biography:

Mr. Mathew Nyaaba is a tutor in the Education department of Gambaga College of Education. He holds Mphil in Basic Education and Bachelor of Education in Basic education (both from the University of Education, Winneba). He has served as a Teaching and Research Assistant in the Department of Basic Education at the University of Education, Winneba. He has teaching experience in both Cambridge International Curriculum and the Ghanaian Basic Education Curriculum. He also holds two certificates in Making Teacher Education Relevant for the 21st Century Africa from the Open University, UK and Teacher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa (TESSA). His research areas of interest include Pedagogy, Inclusive Education and Open Education Resources. He currently has two publications to his name.
